As you can see from our logo, our motto is "His Light Unto the Mountains", and our motivating goal is "ministering to the people of the mountains." These ideals held true in 1909, when First Baptist Church was founded, and remains true nearly 100 years later!
Our Purpose
To worship God, win the lost, disciple believers, minister to physical and spiritual needs, and grow in fellowship with God and others.
For many years, First Baptist Church has been one of the strongest and leading churches in eastern Kentucky. God has blessed us with great leadership, committed workers and a heart for missions. You really must come to Whitesburg and visit our church to know what we mean when we say, "this is a great church." God is still blessing us!
